Apart from availability, operational safety and reliability, the fact that components are maintenance-free is getting more and more important in machine and plant construction. The use of Marathon roller chains always makes sense where relubrication of roller chains is either not possible or not desired, but where, nevertheless, a long life cycle is required.
For application areas with certain chain speeds and operating temperatures Wippermann can provide optimal solutions with Marathon roller chains. They work with a porous, oil-soaked sintered bushing, which is combined with a specially-coated pin to form a self-lubricating chain joint.
The dimensions of Marathon chains are according to ISO 606 (DIN 8187, DIN 8188) so that every standard roller chain can be replaced by a Marathon chain. The breaking load of a Marathon chain exceeds the requirements of respective standards and is comparable to Wippermann standard chains as regards fatigue resistance.
Apart from the standard roller chains according to ISO 606, the Marathon range also comprises roller chains type series GL with straight plates, double-pitch roller chains according to ISO 1275 (DIN 8182) and accumulator chains.
Stainless steel version:
Stainless steel Marathon roller chains are particularly suitable for applications where maintenance-free operation is as important as availability, operational safety and reliability. With this Marathon roller chain type, no relubrication is required without any negative effects on the life cycle.
Wippermann offers optimal solutions for operations within a wide temperature range. The stainless steel Marathon roller chain combines a stainless steel pin with a maintenance-free bearing made of high-performance polymer: the result is a very efficient chain joint.
The dimensions of stainless steel Marathon roller chains are according to ISO 606 (DIN 8187, DIN 8188) so that every stainless steel standard chain can be replaced. However, prior to any application the polymer resistance to critical media should be tested.
The Wippermann range also comprises roller chains type series GL with straight plates and double-pitch roller chains according to ISO 1275 (DIN 8182).
